graduation just around the corner, the following is a reminder/checklist of
items candidates for graduation should complete before the big day.
______ Complete the application for graduation – do it early to avoid
missing the deadline and check with the registrar and business office to make
sure you are eligible to participate in commencement exercises.
______ Attend the Grad Fair, and purchase your commencement regalia (cap
and gown). Call the bookstore for more information: (410) 651-6437.
______ Sit for your yearbook commencement photo. Contact the Office of
Campus Life for schedule, location and additional information: (410)
hotel and restaurant reservations for guest as soon as possible.
______ Submit your request for visa letters for international guests at
least eight weeks in

______ Attend the mandatory
commencement rehearsal Thursday, December 15, 2016 in the
William P. Hytche
Center at 3:00 pm. You do not have to bring your regalia.
______ Make arrangements for
guests requiring special assistance, such as seating and parking, at least two
weeks in advance.
______ Report to the Dr. William
P. Hytche Athletic Center by 8:00 a.m. and assemble in corridor 1510 for
robing, and to receive final
______ Give back; as soon as you turn that tassel,
it’s time to consider how you can give back to UMES, the departments,
organizations, and those who made your college learning experience unique.
Making a donation to the endowment fund or starting your own endowed
scholarship is a great way to strengthen UMES and to stay connected to your
beloved alma mater. You can designate your gift to a department, or program of
your choice. Consider giving back today, other graduates do and you should too!
doors will close to the general public at 9:45 am and remain closed. Once the
doors have closed, guest will be directed to the Student Services Center, where
they will be able to watch the ceremony via closed circuit.
