The SANS Faculty Technology Development and Support Center will provide templates for newsletters, posters, handouts, and brochures. Once developed, we will encourage you to use templates we provide, as the templates will have been tested to ensure that we have no problems printing documents. For example, Publisher does not sustain large format printing, so we haven't supplied a Publisher poster template. The template is a guide for developing your document, so feel free to modify the template to meet your needs. Please see available templates at the bottom of the page.
Please contact us if you have any immediate needs for templates. For assistance, you may refer to the self-help downloads for specific software programs, or make an appointment through the online training request form to work with a staff member. You should have some formatting experience with Microsoft Word or Publisher before trying to use the templates.
Posters up to 11" x 17" can be printed on the Ricoh Color Printer. The large format printer will be used for larger sizes. The maximum dimension in one direction is limited to 42". For large format printers, preparing the document in PowerPoint is recommended.

Before choosing a newsletter template, you must have determined your print layout. Are you printing on 11x17 paper? Are you printing on 8 1/2x11? Most newsletters are printed in increments of four pages, so format accordingly. If you plan to print your newsletter through the center, request a Publisher template as Publisher allows us to format the pages for printing.
