UMES holds Tri-County College Fair
PRINCESS ANNE, MD - (Oct. 30, 2013) - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Tri-County College Fair, a one-stop shop for connecting with over 100 institutions of higher education, takes place Fri., Nov. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
The event—in its 12th year—offers a wide range of options for high school juniors and seniors to consider, said Tyrone Young, UMES’ director of admissions and recruitment. Adding to the traditional mix of public and private four-year colleges, he said, will be technical and community colleges, specialty schools and branches of the military services.
“We see the college fair as a valuable service to the community,” Young said. “It provides area students with an avenue to meet with representatives from across the country to learn about admissions requirements and procedures, areas of academic study, scholarships and other opportunities.”
Of course, Young said, UMES would like to do its fair share of recruiting for the Fall 2014 semester and beyond. Campus tours and display booths manned by faculty from UMES academic departments will show prospective students what the university has to offer, Young said.
Admission is free. Registration is recommended by calling 410-651-8403.
