UMES/UME Gears Up For 2010 Small Farm Conference
PRINCESS ANNE, MD –(September 13, 2010)- Back by popular demand, this year’s Small Farm Conference offers the most in depth, industry specific information available for the gardening enthusiasts as well as the most experienced farmers. The two day event is scheduled for Friday, November 5, and Saturday, November 6, at the Richard A. Henson Center on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Participants can expect pre-conference sessions, a reception and a networking social on Friday, November 5. Saturday’s schedule will involve a keynote speaker and several breakout sessions. Featured topics for the event include: generating profits from alternative fruits, growing herbs and specialty “niche” crops, income opportunities with pasture poultry, entrepreneurship training, food safety and environmental concerns, and much more. New to the conference this year are programs and fun activities for youth, ages 5-18, and free one-on-one coaching sessions with business professionals.
Registration is $25 per person, and $40 per couple. Registration is free for youth attending with registered parents. For youth who will not be accompanying a registered parent, registration is $10. Drop-off and pick-up information will be forthcoming.
