If you cannot receive channels above 13, your TV is not "cable-ready" or you need to enable the cable tv option. Consult your operating manual. If your TV is not cable ready then you will either need to change channels using your VCR, purchase a converter, or purchase a cable-ready TV.
Many TV reception problems are related to loose cables or incorrect connections of the cabling between the wall, VCR, video game, and / or TV. Make sure all cables are tight and connected properly. Consult the manuals which came with your device.
Make sure the cables are connected to the correct in / out ports on your electronic devices.
One way to troubleshoot your connection is to try a different cable between the wall outlet and your TV. Borrow one from your neighbor and see if the problem continues. Cables can be purchased from the hardware store or drug store.
On occasion poor weather conditions may result in reduced reception quality or loss of reception altogether. We ask that you be patient during these occurances.
If it is necessary for IT to repair a CATV connection (or data / phone ports) and the problem is determined to be "student damage" then the residents of the room will be assessed an appropriate charge for the repair.
