WESM interviews Clarence Clemons’ son, Nick

Clarence Clemons, often referred to as “The Big Man,” was a prominent member of Bruce Springsteen’s E. Street Band playing tenor saxophone. Both father and son attended UMES. Nick Clemons speaks of his father’s affinity for The Shore and the university in the interview.
Nick Clemons will appear with his band at Trader Lee’s on the corner of routes 50 and 611 in West Ocean City, Md., June 23 for a tribute concert to his late father and rock and roll icon. The concert marks the one-year anniversary of his father’s passing.
New Jersey’s The Lyriqs, featuring a blend of blues, pop, and rock fusion are the opening act at 4 p.m. followed by Nick Clemons at 7 p.m.
The Nick Clemons Band is a rocking New Jersey powerhouse band with Nick on guitar, Joey Stann on saxophone and flute, Jim Squirrell on trumpet, Eric Gonzalez on drums and Jake Hughes at the keyboard.
The band has been tearing up Jersey Shore venues this spring and now brings their sound to The Shore, an area that holds much significance to Nick and his family. The band’s new release “No Worries,” is available on iTunes and features a commanding saxophone solo.
